Originality

One of the key things to being a successful and recognised burlesque performer is to have an original act. However, owing to either the extreme saturation of the burlesque scene, some subconscious cultural zeitgeist, or just pure coincidence, whenever you think of a new idea, however original you think it is, you can be pretty certain someone, somewhere, has had the same idea.

One of the first things people seem to say to me when they find out what I do is "Wow, you must be so CONFIDENT!" I wrote that last word in capital letters as the amount of astonishment and emphasis put on that word could not be conveyed by context alone. And people say this to me all the time. Which I find weird, because I'm not. And most performers I know will freely admit that they're not either. What you will normally find with me is this:
